Which booking sites earn their commission
Compare each booking site's bookings, cancellations, commission and net revenue with your commission-free direct bookings, and decide where to invest.
Every booking site takes a slice of every booking. The booking-sites view in Reporting shows what each one actually delivers once that slice is gone. Decisions about where to spend your effort and money are then made on net numbers, not gross ones.
What you see for each booking site
- Bookings and cancellations: how much business each site sends, and how much of it evaporates before arrival.
- Gross revenue: the headline value of those bookings.
- Commission: what the site charges you for them.
- Net revenue: what you actually keep, which is the number that pays the bills.
- Average nightly rate and net per booking: a site sending lots of cheap, short stays reads differently from one sending fewer, better ones.
Your own bookings sit alongside
Direct business appears in the same comparison, and it pays no commission. The mix view even splits your direct bookings by where each one started: your own booking page, the front desk, or your AI assistant. That makes the comparison concrete: the same $600 weekend is worth more to you when it arrives through your own page.
Using it to decide
Read the table on net revenue and cancellations, not gross. A site with a big gross figure, heavy commission and a high cancellation rate can be earning you less than a quieter site that sends solid, reliable bookings. If a site consistently underperforms, that's your case for adjusting how much attention it gets. It's also your case for investing in the commission-free side: your own booking page, and the advertising that feeds it.
Troubleshooting
Do cancelled bookings count in the revenue figures?
No. Cancelled bookings are counted in the cancellation figures and left out of the revenue ones. A site's net revenue is business that actually stood.
Why do the totals here match my other reports exactly?
Because they're the same numbers. Every report reads from the same bookings and works the figures out the same way, so slicing by booking site never invents or loses revenue.
