Pace and forecast

Occupancy tells you how a month ended. Pace tells you how it's going — early enough to act. The pace and forecast view in Reporting compares how your future dates are booking with how they booked last year, and projects where they're likely to land.

Pace: ahead or behind

For any future period, pace answers one question: is there more or less on the books today than there was at the same distance out last year? The comparison is like-for-like — your position 60 days before a date is compared with your position 60 days before that date last year, not with how last year finished. That matters, because most dates are mostly empty until close in: being 40% booked in July can be excellent for a February date and worrying for an August one. Pace knows the difference.

You can also see pickup — how much has been added to the books since a date you choose — which is the quickest way to tell whether a promotion or a rate change actually moved anything.

The forecast

The forecast projects where a period will likely finish. It starts from the bookings you already hold, allows for the cancellations you'd typically get, and adds the pickup your property normally sees at this distance out, informed by last year. It's built entirely from your own history — not from someone else's market averages — and it's a projection, not a promise: treat it as the most honest available guess.

Acting on a pace gap

The value of pace is the runway. If a period is behind:

• Check what the rate suggestions are saying for those dates.
• Consider a special, or a look at your minimum stays, to open the dates up.
• Point your marketing at the gap while there's still time for it to work.

If a period is well ahead, the same signal argues the other way: hold your rates, or firm them.

A note on imported history

Pace depends on knowing when each booking was made. If you brought your old bookings across without their original booking dates, comparisons reaching into that history can't be reconstructed — and Accommador will say so rather than show a misleading figure. When importing bookings, include the booked-on dates if you have them; your pace comparisons will thank you next year.
