Tell Accommador about your place
Stage 1 of setup: your property's details — and why the currency, time zone and property type deserve a moment's thought before you save.
The first stage of setup asks a handful of questions about your property: its name, where it is, what kind of place it is, and the currency you trade in. It takes about ten minutes, and everything else is built on these answers — so two of them are worth slowing down for. Open it from the setup board's first stage, or under Distribution → Channel Manager.
The currency is permanent
Every booking, payment and invoice from here on is written in the currency you pick, and nobody can change it afterwards. The form warns you about this for a reason: if the currency changed after prices, bookings and invoices already existed, those records would keep the currency they were made in, and your books would stop agreeing with themselves. Rather than let that happen quietly, Accommador locks the currency the moment your property is created. Ten minutes of care now saves re-doing all your prices later.
The time zone decides when “today” starts
The time zone is what decides when “today” begins for arrivals, departures and the messages that go to guests. Set it to where your property physically is, and today's arrivals list will always mean what you think it means.
The property type adapts the app to you
Hotel, motel, houseboat, holiday rental — pick the kind of place you actually run. Accommador uses it to speak your language: what your inventory is called (rooms, units or beds), which reporting figures you see, and sensible defaults for how guests arrive. A houseboat operator sees units and revenue per unit; a motel sees rooms. Unlike the currency, you can correct this later. There's more on all three of these choices in Currency, time zone and property type.
How your business is structured
The form also asks whether you run one property with many rooms under it, or individual rentals each listed on its own. This is separate from the property type — a houseboat fleet run as one business is still one property — and it affects which booking sites your property can list on. It's set when the property is created, so answer it for how you actually operate. If you're not sure, ask the setup assistant before you save.
Two shortcuts worth knowing
- Start from your website. If your property already has a website, paste its address and Accommador drafts these details for you — you check every field before anything is saved. See Start from your website.
- Ask as you go. The built-in setup assistant can see your setup and answer questions in plain language while you fill the form in.
When you're done
Saving this stage creates your property, and the rest of the board opens up from it. The next stage is the big one: listing what you rent out, and the dates you'll take.
