The Xero setup wizard
A guided, six-step setup that tells Accommador where each kind of money belongs in Xero: accounts, bank accounts and GST treatment, with progress saved as you go.
Once Xero is connected, a guided setup walks you through telling Accommador where each kind of money belongs. Work through it once and every invoice and payment after that is coded automatically — no more typing things into Xero twice.
The six steps
- Connection. Confirms Xero is connected, with a live test against your organisation.
- Accounts for each money type. Pick the account in your chart of accounts for accommodation revenue, extras, cancellation charges, booking-site commission, and deposits. Deposits get their own account deliberately: a deposit is money you hold, not income you've earned yet, and keeping it separate is what keeps your revenue figures honest.
- Room-type accounts (optional). If you report some room types separately — say the houseboats apart from the cabins — give those room types their own revenue account. Everything else uses the accommodation default.
- Bank accounts for payment methods. Match each payment method — card, cash, bank transfer and so on — to the Xero bank account that money actually arrives in. This is what lets payments reconcile cleanly against your real bank feeds.
- Tax rates. Choose the GST treatment for each money type, using your organisation's own tax rates.
- Check and finish. The final step checks the connection, confirms every required mapping is filled in, and verifies the chosen accounts actually exist in Xero before marking setup complete.
Your progress is saved
The wizard remembers where you're up to, so you can stop after any step and come back later. You can also rerun it any time — to change an account, adjust a tax rate, or fill in a step you skipped at first.
Only the essentials are required
Room-type accounts are optional, and anything you don't map falls back sensibly: an extra without its own account uses the default extras account, and a room type without its own account uses the accommodation default. You can start simple and refine the coding later — see map your accounts and tax rates for what each mapping controls.
Troubleshooting
An account I created in Xero isn't in the list
The account pickers keep a short-lived copy of your chart of accounts for speed. Use the refresh option in the picker to re-read the list straight from Xero.
Do I have to finish before anything works?
The required steps are the connection, the accounts for each money type, the bank accounts and the tax rates — check-out invoicing relies on them to code its lines. Do those in one sitting if you can; the optional pieces can wait.
