Choose what work each person sees

The pool contractor shouldn't scroll past forty cleans to find their one job, and the cleaner doesn't need to see electrical work. Each staff member can be scoped to the work that's actually theirs. It keeps every list short — and short lists get done.

The default: everything

A staff member with no scope set is a generalist: they see, and can claim, every unassigned job. For a small team where everyone does a bit of everything, leave it that way — there's nothing to configure.

Scope by kind of work

On the person's entry in Operations → Staff, tick the kinds of work they do — housekeeping, maintenance, inspections. A ticked kind covers all of it: every job type in that category, including ones you create later. A cleaner ticked for housekeeping sees every clean, and never a repair.

Or scope to specific job types

You can go finer and pick named job types:

• Picks inside a ticked category narrow it — the person covers exactly those types, and a new type added to that category later stays off their list until you pick it too.
• Picks outside any ticked category are added on top.

So "all maintenance, plus the quarterly fire inspection" is one ticked category and one pick — the mixed shape a working contractor usually needs. And a specialist with no categories and a single pick sees exactly one kind of job, nothing else.

What scoping changes — and what it doesn't

• Their portal worklist offers only unassigned jobs inside their scope, and claiming anything else is refused — a guessed link doesn't work either.
• When they raise their own job, the template picker offers only their scope. See the staff portal.
• Jobs you assign to someone directly always appear, in scope or not. Scope filters the pool of claimable work; it never hides work you've explicitly given a person.
• When you're the one assigning, people whose scope matches the job sort to the top of the picker — but you can still choose anyone.
