Hold a security bond on the guest's card

A security bond in Accommador is a hold, not a charge. The amount is reserved on the guest's card, but nothing leaves their account — and unless you take some of it after the stay, nothing ever does. No cash tin, no cheque in the mail, no refund to organise after every clean stay.

A hold, not a charge

• The guest's bank reserves the amount against their card; they see it as pending, not spent.
• Money moves only if you take some of it after the stay — otherwise the reservation is simply released.
• A hold never appears in your books or in Xero. Only money you actually take does.
• A hold doesn't count towards the booking's paid total — it's a safety net, not a payment.

Set the bond amount

The property-wide bond amount lives on the Money at check-in card in your guest journey settings — the same place the rest of your online check-in flow is configured.

If your units differ, set a different bond per room type on the Per-unit bond overrides card just below it: enter an amount against any room type, leave the rest blank to use the property default, and click Save overrides. A premium unit can carry a bigger bond than a studio without needing a second flow.

Whatever the source, the amount the guest is shown, the amount in their money summary and the amount actually held are always the same figure — they can't drift apart.

When the hold is placed

Most bonds are placed during online check-in: the guest authorises the hold on their own phone in the days before arrival, as a step of the check-in flow. See balance and bond at check-in.

You can also place one yourself: open the booking's Payments tab, click Request Payment, pick Hold deposit, and send the guest the link. Either way the hold appears on the booking with its reserved amount and its status.

After the stay

Release it, take the part that covers damage, or keep it alive for a long stay — see bond outcomes. And if you run two gateways, you can choose which one holds bonds.
