Take the balance and bond during check-in
Collect the outstanding balance and hold the security bond as part of check-in — with payment gates so the door code stays locked until the money is settled.
Money is the part of arrival day that used to need a person. With money steps in your check-in flow, the guest pays the balance and leaves a bond from their phone before they arrive — and the steps you care about, like the door code, can stay locked until the money is settled.
The money steps
- Pay the balance — Accommador works out exactly what's owing at the moment of payment, including any add-ons the guest just chose. If nothing is owing — say the booking was prepaid through a booking site — the step completes by itself.
- Security bond — a hold on the guest's card rather than money taken, released automatically a set number of days after a clean check-out. The amount can differ by room type. See hold a security bond.
- Bond or damage waiver — offer the choice: a refundable bond, or a smaller non-refundable waiver fee. Choosing the waiver adds the fee to the balance and skips the bond entirely; choosing the bond adds no fee.
- Tourist tax — where it applies, the tax is calculated per night, per person, or per person per night and added to the balance, so it's collected with everything else. One payment, not two.
The money summary guests see
The check-in page shows a running money summary: what the stay costs, what's been paid, what's still owing, and any bond currently held. It updates as the guest chooses add-ons or makes payments, and it's always calculated fresh by Accommador — nothing about the amount is left to the guest's browser. Guests can also make a payment whenever they like from the same page, not just when a step asks — see guest self-service payments.
Payment gates
Any later step can require the money to be settled before it unlocks. The classic use: door codes or meeting-point details stay locked until the balance is paid and the bond is held — see door codes that appear only when they should.
Safe by design
Payments run through your connected gateway — Stripe or PayDollar — on the gateway's own secure payment page, so card details never pass through Accommador. And before touching any money step, the guest confirms a one-time code sent to the contact details on the booking, so a forwarded link can't be used to interfere. You'll need a gateway connected first: see connect a payment gateway.
After the stay
A clean check-out releases the bond automatically once your set number of days passes. If there's damage, flag it on the booking's check-in record — a flagged bond is never auto-released, and you decide whether to charge against it or let it go. See bond capture, release and extend. One note for PayDollar: card holds last around 14 days, so keep your release window comfortably inside that.
Troubleshooting
The guest paid but the step still shows as waiting
After a payment the page shows it's confirming until the gateway reports the result — usually moments. The step completes itself when confirmation arrives; a failed payment reopens the step so the guest can simply try again.
