Guest self check-out
Guests can check themselves out from their phone where you allow it. Three policies per property — off, notify-you-only, or fully automatic — with notify-only the default.
From the evening before departure, the guest's check-in page grows a check-out section. How much a guest can actually do there is your call, set per property — and until you change it, the default keeps you firmly in control.
The three policies
- Off — guests see an informational note (your own wording if you set one) and no button. Check-out stays entirely a staff action.
- Notify you only — the default — guests get a let-us-know-I'm-leaving button. Tapping it records the notice on the booking's history and raises a task for your team to inspect the room, add any final charges and complete the check-out. The booking's status doesn't change and nothing is invoiced until you check them out yourself.
- Fully automatic — guests confirm their own departure. If the balance is zero, Accommador completes the check-out exactly as if you'd done it, accounting included — see check-out and the balance. If money is still owing, nothing is closed out; a follow-up task is raised for you instead.
Why notify-only is the default
Self check-out done carelessly means bookings closed with charges missed. The default gives you the signal — the guest has told you they're leaving — without giving up the control: your team still inspects, still adds the forgotten extras, still presses the button. Move to fully automatic once your flow already collects everything before departure.
Setting the policy
The policy lives on Guests → Guest Journey, in the guest check-out settings. Alongside the mode you can write a short message shown to guests when self check-out is off or notify-only — after-hours instructions, where to leave the keys, and so on.
Your automatic check-out reminders follow the policy too: guests are only ever invited to check themselves out when the policy actually allows it. See when guests get their check-in link.
What it never does
- A guest action never rolls a booking backwards, and never closes a booking with money owing.
- If the accounting can't be completed at that moment, the check-out doesn't happen — a task is raised so you can finalise it by hand.
- Your own ability to check a booking out is never affected by the policy.
- Whatever the policy, the rest of the check-out section stays available to guests — the condition checklist and feedback — see feedback, ratings and condition photos.
Troubleshooting
A guest tapped the button twice — do I get two tasks?
No. Repeated taps are recognised and recorded once, and a booking that's already checked out just shows the guest a friendly confirmation.
